Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John
8:31-32 (If the truth frees us, wouldn’t
God make it available to us to know? Yes, it says “we shall know the truth,” IF
ye continue in my word. What does the truth free us from? The following verses
reveal that the truth frees us from the bondage of sin. So I’d say that makes
truth quite important.)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of
truth, is come, he will guide you
into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall
hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13 (The Holy Spirit as your guide and counselor is the key to knowing ALL truth
and understanding prophecy.)
Ask, and it shall
be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if
his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or
if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If
ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much
more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask
him? Matt. 7:7-11
For God is not
the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. I Cor.
14:33 (The confusion in the churches
isn’t God’s doing. Satan is present among the churches causing the confusion.)
Knowing this
first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. II
Peter 1:20 (The Bible interprets the
Bible. We have no authority to interpret scripture however we want or feel
like.)
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that
perish; because they received not the
love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send
them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be
damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we are bound
to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God
hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation
through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel,
to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which
ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. II
Thess. 2:10-15
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. I John 3:18
Love
does not delight in evil but rejoices
with the truth. I Cor. 13:6
He must hold firmly to
the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and
refute those who oppose it. Titus 1:9
You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. Titus 2:1
For the time will come when they will
not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall
they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away
[their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3-4
Take heed
unto thyself, and unto the doctrine;
continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them
that hear thee. I Timothy 4:16
If anyone teaches false
doctrines and does not agree to the sound
instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited
and understands nothing. I Timothy 6:3-4
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge
of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the
fulness of Christ: That we [henceforth] be
no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of
doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie
in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all
things, which is the head, [even] Christ: Eph. 4:13-15
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, that ye all speak the same thing,
and [that] there be no divisions among you; but [that] ye be perfectly joined
together in the same mind and in the
same judgment. I Cor. 1:10 (Yes, we
should be unified, but we should be unified under the truth, speaking the same
things with the same mind. It doesn’t say to not be concerned about truth so
that we can be unified. It says just the opposite, we should be concerned about
truth, about sound doctrine, being of the same mind and spirit IN ORDER for us
to be unified under these truths.)
My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,
that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou
hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 4:6
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and acceptable and perfect. Rom. 12:2
I do not ask
that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They
are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me
into the world, so I have sent them into the world. John 17:15-18
Love not the world, neither the
things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. For all that [is] in the world, the
lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of
the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust
thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. I John 2:15-17
And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul,
thou art beside thyself; much learning doth
make thee mad. But he said, I am not mad,
most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. Acts
26:24-25 (Paul was viewed as a mad man
for speaking the truth. How would truth tellers be viewed today?)
"'How can you say, "We are wise, for we have the law of the
LORD," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?
Jer. 8:8 (This verse describes scribes
having “lying pens” and handling scripture falsely. So we should be on guard
against false interpretations and false translations. This is a big way in
which Satan is able to deceive by subtly twisting scripture to lead people into
disobedience.)
Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth… Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth… Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalm 119:142,151,160
