For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous. I John 5:3 (People
always talk about loving God. This verse plainly tells us how to do this. And
the last part of this verse shows that his commandments are not a burden as
many people claim them to be.)
This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. II John 6
The law of the LORD is perfect,
converting the soul. Psalm 19:7 (Would
God, that changes not, abolish a perfect law?)
Let us hear
the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear
God, and keep his commandments:
for this is the whole duty of man.
Eccl. 12:13 (If there was ever one
single verse that sums it all up, this is it.)
O that there
were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my
commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their
children for ever! Deut. 5:29
He that
turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be
abomination. Prov. 28:9
For not the hearers of the law are just
before God, but the doers of the law
shall be justified. Rom. 2:13
Whosoever
committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. I John 3:4 (This verse plainly tells us the definition
of sin.)
For until the
law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Romans 5:13 (Sin entered the world with Adam and Eve,
thus the law must have been in effect.)
Because the
law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Romans 4:15 (And without transgression of the law,
there is no sin, and thus no need for a savior.)
What shall we
say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law:
for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Romans
7:7 (God’s law is the 10 commandments)
But seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you. Matt. 6:33 “For all Your commandments are righteousness.” Psalm 119:172 Know ye not,
that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or
of obedience unto righteousness?
Romans 6:16 (Righteousness is obeying
God’s commandments, and thus becoming God’s servant. Sin is not obeying God’s
commands, and thus being the servant of someone or something else)
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Gen. 26:5 (This
verse shows that the God’s law preceded Moses.)
And, behold,
one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may
have eternal life? [17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there
is none good but one, that is, God: but
if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. [18] He saith unto
him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit
adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, [19] Honour
thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matt.
19:16-19 (If there is any doubt as to
what God’s commandments are, Jesus tells us by quoting from the 10
commandments.)
The LORD is
well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he
will magnify the law, and make it honourable. Isaiah 42:21 (This seems to contrast abolishing it by
“nailing it to the cross”)
For this is
the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will
be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people. Heb. 8:10 (God’s laws seem to be in effect in a
future time “after those days” for Israel.)
The fear of
the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good
understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth
for ever. Psalm 111:10 (God grants
understanding to those that obey his laws.)
Think not that
I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Matt. 5:17
Love worketh
no ill to his neighbour: therefore love
is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:10 (Jesus came not to destroy the law, but to fulfil. And this verse tells
us the definition of love, which is to fulfil the law. Would God “nail love to
the cross?”)
But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and
comest thou to me? And Jesus
answering said unto him, Suffer it
to be so now: for thus it
becometh us to fulfil all
righteousness. Matt. 3:14-15 (IF we no
longer need to obey the law because Christ fulfilled it, then we also no longer
need to be baptized because it was also “fulfilled” when Christ was baptized by
John.)
Wherefore the
law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Romans 7:12 (This description doesn’t sound like
something God would want to abolish.)
And we are his
witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given
to them that obey him. Acts 5:32 (We must “obey” in order to qualify for
receiving God’s Spirit)
Not every one
that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven. Matt. 7:21
And why call
ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luke 6:46
Here is the
patience of the saints: here are they that
keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Rev. 14:12
And the dragon
was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and
have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Rev. 12:17
Circumcision
is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of
God is what matters. I Cor. 7:19 (There
are some things from the old covenant such as circumcision that are no longer
binding, but keeping God’s commandments is not done away with.)
Now by this
we know that we know Him, if we keep His
commandments. He who says, 'I know Him,'
and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
I John 2:3-4
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth
the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and
their blossom shall go up as dust: because
they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of
the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 5:24 (Punishment
is given in the last days for casting away the law of the Lord.)
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it
is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in
all things which are written in the book
of the law to do them. Gal. 3:10
For had ye believed Moses, ye
would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? John
5:46-47
They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith
unto them, If ye were Abraham's
children, ye would do the works of Abraham. John 8:39
And when they heard it, they glorified
the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews
there are which believe; and they are
all zealous of the law: They
have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to
turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live
according to our customs. What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have
come, so do what we tell you. There are four men with us who have
made a vow. Take these men, join in their purification rites and pay
their expenses, so that they can have their heads shaved. Then everybody will know there is no truth in these reports about you,
but that you yourself are living in obedience to the law. Acts 21:20-24
(The Jews that were zealous for the law were
troubled by the rumors that Paul was teaching the Gentiles to turn from the
law, but Paul says these reports are not true.)
Deut. 28 states the blessings
and curses of obeying or disobeying God’s commands. The present condition of
the world today seems to suggest that we are receiving the curses and is thus
evidence of God’s Laws being broken and still being in affect.
God asked Noah to build an ark and then He destroyed all but 8 people on the earth. God told Abraham to sacrifice his own son. God destroyed many of the nations of the earth i.e. Women, men, children, animals with no guilt. He told Israel to go fight battles and destroy everything breathing, even women who were with child. He even told them to kill their own brothers and sisters if they sinned and from the beginning of time set up a sacrifice system that would cause the MASS-SLAUGHTER of more animals than one can count. They were to kill without remorse those who He said to kill. He gave Sampson the power to kill, steal and destroy!
ReplyDeleteAbraham lied to save his life and offered up his own wife to be the wife of a pagan king. Jacob lied to get his birthright. David murdered a man so that he could steal his wife. Then God spoke over and over again of a time when He would judge and condemn men for their sinfulness and spoke of a new heaven and earth after the first would be destroyed.
NOW! Just how is a child of God supposed to act. What is the LOVE OF GOD and what is the determination that appears to be made by many that the love of God is NOT judging, NOT condemnation, NOT killing, NOT lying and the idea that God would NEVER fill anyone with His Spirit (as He did Sampson when they are willfully sinning?)
IT WOULD APPEAR THAT WE NEED SOME HONESTY AMIDST ALL THE DOCTRINES THAT ARE BLOWING AROUND ABOUT WHAT A CHILD OF GOD DOES OR WILL DO IF THEY ARE OBEDIENT TO HIS CONTINUAL WILL AND JUST WHAT GOD WILL ASK OR HAS ASKED TO BE DONE BY THOSE WHO HE CALLS HIS OWN.
it would seem to be amazing how many times God makes it very clear that the law is only for the lawless and that the righteous never come under condemnation for they live in him and I are a part of him and are therefore not bound to anything that would point out their sins since they have left behind their old unrighteous life and have become one with God.
